About
I'm an automation engineer living in Europe.
I've been into open source since the 90's when I got on IRC. I really like what's happening lately in the open source, particularly on GitHub. Building dbatools and the community that's come out of it has been a dream come true for me. I even got to write a book about it, along with 3 other coauthors!
Background
My addiction to computers started back in 1987 when my parents purchased a Leading Edge Model D for their home office. They also bought Infocom's Wishbringer to encourage their three children to become familiar with MS-DOS and computers in general. It worked; all three of their children now work in IT.
This is where I started playing with computers - the heart of Cajun country.
In 2007, I graduated from the University of San Francisco with a BSc. in Information Systems and then got my Masters in Systems Engineering from Regis University in 2018. I've been working in IT for about 20 years now and have spent most of that time working as a database administrator and systems automator.
My Setup
I work primarily on macOS and Windows 11. I enjoy both equally, though I love my Apple hardware. I have a low-energy, high-powered homelab at home that runs proxmox. I should blog about that.
My Music
I love everything from New Kids to NSync. But instead of going through a laundry list, I'll let my Last.FM account speak for me. Go look.
